Remember Me Thursday 2020
Remember Me Thursday is a global event that I heard about when I was living in San Diego and working at the Helen Woodward Animal Center. It's a day in the animal rescue world that is slowly but surely spreading all over the world.
The idea behind it is that there are million of homeless animals across the globe and we take one day a year to pay tribute to them. Light a candle in honor of the animals who haven't found the love of a human quite yet, and the ones who never did. It sounds like a sad event but I think it's really nice. It reminds me to appreciate the animals in my life who I have been lucky enough to love and who have been lucky enough to find love from a human.
There are millions of people around the world trying to help the multi millions of homeless animals and I think it's important for those people to band together when possible. I hope we see a world where days like Remember Me Thursday are known by the average Joe, not just people deep in the rescue world. Wouldn't that be nice?
So what are you waiting for? Whether you have a rescue animal or know a rescue animal or even have heard that rescue animals are maybe a thing (are you living under a rock?) you can light a candle (battery operated candles count!) in honor of the animals. Take a moment, light a candle. Post the photo online and be sure to hashtag #RememberMeThursday and #SeeTheLight to be a part of the event.
Thanks to everyone who has already sent a photo. We'll see you all on Thursday.
