Do As Dumbledore Does
Updated: Aug 22, 2020
I wanted to take a moment to talk about the craziness that has been plaguing the world right now. From day one, 2020 has been a total cluster, I think we can all agree on that. And these last two weeks have been no exception. For two weeks we cancelled our Roscoe Rescues meeting because I wasn't feeling well and last week when we met everything seemed off.
Today was no exception. We are pushing forward with our dream and not letting the Corona Virus or the Nashville tornadoes get us down. But it is hard. Our meeting today was virtual. We talked through the app as we all self quarantine, and its eerie to be honest. It seems like everything else has stopped, yet we keep going. Which as incredible as that is, it's weird.
The day after the tornado I went to work at a dinner restaurant. We were closed to the public, but were honoring our events that we're already planned. We did our jobs, like nothing had happened, even though the world just down the street from where were, was shattered.
I've been laid off from two of my jobs due to shutdowns, and yet, the world keeps spinning.
Last week I picked up a dog from Putnam county to temporarily foster her through another rescue I volunteer with. Putnam county was destroyed by the tornado, the drive was sad. I ignored it as best I could and kept my eyes on the road. The world keeps spinning.
Ruby stayed with me until this past Monday, when she went to her permanent foster home. I greeted her foster mom like normal, we took the dogs for a walk like normal, and we talked about rescue, like normal. Yet all around us, people are out of work, people are sick and in quarantine, and people are Armageddon shopping like this is the end. It's dark. The world keeps spinning.
I guess my point is, things will keep going. We're going to do our part over here, I hope out there you can do yours. Stay safe, stay away from large groups, wash your hands, and keep rescuing animals. The world keeps spinning.
I'll post more this week, stay tuned for Corona 2020 in Animal Rescue.
