Why give to Roscoe Rescues?

This Giving Tuesday, you can help dogs like Merry and Timber overcome life’s challenges and live the happy, fulfilling lives they deserve. Merry, a sweet, disabled pup, is making incredible strides after an accident left her paralyzed. Timber, who is battling heartworm disease, is also on a long road to recovery, and with your support, we can cover his treatment and ensure he thrives in his forever home. No dog should be held back by financial barriers.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps these resilient dogs regain their strength and live the lives they deserve. Thank you for being part of their journey and for making second chances possible this Giving Tuesday.
Read more about Timber and Merry's stories below.
Merry's story is one of resilience and hope. Merry was taken in as a stray puppy by cofounder Jaimie and her partner CJ. While playing at the dog park, Merry was accidentally trampled by a large dog during a game of fetch. The impact left her hind legs paralyzed with her road to recovery that would prove to be long and uncertain. Despite this life-changing accident, she remains a bright and joyful spirit.
One session of physical therapy for Merry costs about $70, with the recommended amount being twice a week and acupuncture typically costing $175 per visit. These expenses quickly add up and accidents like this can happen in an instant but Merry deserves the chance to receive the best care possible, without the financial barriers. Though she hasn’t regained full mobility yet, Merry is consistently progressing, gaining strength, building reflexive movements, and showing incredible determination every day. Your support will help ensure she gets the treatments she needs to live a full, happy life.
Timber’s story is one of love and the unwavering belief that every dog deserves the proper medical treatment. He’s one of the many pups who came to us through owner surrender, a heartbreaking reality for many pets when life circumstances change. When Timber’s first family could no longer care for him, they made the difficult decision to rehome him. Thankfully, our cofounder Amy was able to step in as a temporary foster, offering Timber a safe place to land. It didn’t take long for Timber to capture the hearts of everyone he met. His sweet nature, loyal heart, and intelligence shone through, and soon he was off to a new foster-to-adopt home where he could begin a fresh chapter.
However, just when things seemed to be going smoothly, Timber faced an unexpected challenge. During a routine vet visit, he was diagnosed with heartworm disease. Heartworm disease is a potentially fatal condition that affects thousands of dogs each year. It’s transmitted through mosquito bites, and while preventable, it can be very expensive to treat—often costing upwards of $3,000 for full treatment which typically takes about 365 days to complete. But for Timber, the possibility of treatment was never in question. We knew we would do whatever it took to ensure he received the care he needed. Timber’s future adopter really stepped up, ready to support him through the heartworm treatment process. He has now started his first round of heartworm treatment.
